Ed, my daughter, Connie, forwarded me your request for
info on Jimmie's early tv days, along w/Gordon Yoder.
(She's in nursing school and short on time!)

Yes, Jimmie and Gordon were early television news
pioneers.  Gordon's widow may also have some info to
share???  I can contact her if you like; not sure if
she has internet access or not.

Jimmie was the first cameraman hired when WBAP-TV went
on the air, I think it was 1948. Amon Carter owned the
station and didn't want Dallas to be "first" with a
news show.  Doyle Vinson was the news director of the
fledgling operation.  They all kind of flew by the
seat of their pants, making up the rules as they went
along.

He and Gordon covered (among many other stories) the
integration of Central High School.  (Scarey stories
out of that!), along with another cameraman, Moe Levy.

I'll dig into my  photo boxes and see if I can find
pix of Jimmie, Doyle, etc. if you think it would be
helpful.  He was very proud of the work they did in
those days and decried the "talking heads" of today's
tv news.  "We showed, not told" was his mantra.

Look forward to hearing from you if you need anything
more.  Sue Mundell
